Philosophy

A love of books and reading alone does not a librarian make. But it helps. It's about the space between that experience and the ability to watch and listen and create  bridges that meet the readers and the non readers and the library using community, and encourages them to enter a rich library experience. 

Teacher-Librarian

As a teacher-librarian in Australia in remote and regional communities I learned the importance of books as windows, mirrors and sliding doors, and the need to ensure a collection that could do all of that.

Curriculum Leader

As a curriculum leader, under the teacher-librarian umbrella, I learned how to bring a community of educators together to plan cooperatively and use resources to enhance learning power.

Literacy Consultant

As a Literacy Consultant in India, given the honour of designing new library spaces and collection curation, I learned how to manage objections to books and the grief associated with culling and the cultural shift of collections that focus on volume and use as a priority.
